Well equipped with everything we needed to make the stay comfortable. Good wifi connection. Great communication from the owner and instructions on how to get there, things to do, how to light the fire etc. Plenty to do in the area and you could probably get around to lots of them without a car. Train station at the end of the garden (but not noisy at all) which goes into Fort William which has bus and train connections. This is an old rustic cottage with all the features that go with it - steep stairs, fireplace, bathroom downstairs. Ideal escape location and we loved it! Visited June 2024 Written 3 July 2024. This lovely cottage is ideally situated for getting into the mountains with a plethora of Munros on the doorstep. However Fort William is close by for the rainy days or you may just want to curl up before the real fire or go on an adventure by train with the station on your doorstep. Don’t worry about any train noise though for the cottage is a true haven of peace. The nearest shop is just three miles away and there are several pubs within walking distance and a beautiful river to swim in.What more could you want? Visited May 2024 Written 20 May 2024. Lovely surroundings that are calming with a few walks around the area. Tight to get into the driveway, but we managed to get the hang of it after a day. Ample parking space with a greeting from a few hens. Loads of coal and a few leftovers to get us started with a fire. Easy to light the living room fire that made the place warm and cosy. The additional electric heaters were great, as the blow out ones in the kitchen and living room blew out cold air. Windows in bathroom and kitchen don't open fully due to blinds not positioned well, so if cooking expect to hear the smoke alarms. Some replacements required for the kitchen floor, blind fixings, sofas and mattress. Just about enough cooking pans and utensils, but need replacing for a few as teflon is coming off which is harmful to health. Bathroom was okay, but shower cubicle is small and water dribbles out. I had to clean the bathroom before we used it as hair in bath and shower wasn't the cleanest. Freezer space is very small, but okay as Fort William wasn't far for another couple of food shops during our stay. Co-op in Spean bridge was well stocked with a hot pizza counter and cakes, but beware car park is small and gets very busy. They sell lots for the fire though. Washing machine needs a clean as that isn't the best and another air dryer would be great. Porch area was great for outdoor gear after being out all day. Great communication with the owner. Not a bad stay as close to the things we wanted to do around that part of Scotland. Visited September 2023 Written 24 September 2023. A cute little cottage, which was perfectly clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with crockery, pots, dishes etc., just like home. The cottage is ideally situated for exploring, we visited Fort Willaim, the Glenfinnan Viaduct (Hogwarts Express passed over) and had tickets for the Jacobite Train to Malaig. The Nevis range is just a few miles up the road and you could visit Skye too! Great places to eat out too if you don't fancy cooking! Visited August 2023 Written 20 August 2023. Check in is very easy with a keysafe. Everything you need for the kitchen and bathroom is provided except from tea and coffees and only bbc channels on the TV. The double bed was a bit slanted however it didn't effect the experience as we were so tried from climbing ben nevis. Would recommend for people wanting the explore the local area. Ideal location for visiting places in every direction. It's right next to Roybridge train station enabling us to take the train to Rannoch Moor station with wonderful scenery, and a lovely tea room. Other good days out were a drive over to Mallaig, a ride up the Glen Coe chairlift & also a walk from the cottage to the Parallel roads glacial feature. Lancashire, United Kingdom1 contribution Wonderful Cottage Had a wonderful holiday in this lovely, clean and comfortable cottage. It had everything we needed for our break. The weather was mixed during our stay but that didn't stop us from doing anything. The children loved the chickens that came to visit from next door. The neighbour even brought us some new laid eggs which were delicious. We all loved our evening strolls down by the river, it was so peaceful. The cottage was in a great location for visiting other places aswell. A short drive to Fort William which we did a few times during our stay. The swimming pool there was lovely and the Highland Cinema was a great morning out too. We visited the Nevis Range and went up on the cable cars. Not a great fan of cable cars but once up there the views were amazing and the cafe was good. Well worth the visit. The Jacobite steam train was booked up but were not ones to give up so we used the normal train from Fort William to Mallaig. Again the scenery was beautiful. We got the bus back and saw some more lovely places. We also went up the road to see the parallel lines from the ice age. That was well worth the visit too. Glencoe which was around an hours drive from the cottage was amazing. The views from up there are unbelievable and the children loved going in the turf house. We would definitely recommend the cottage as its a great base for visiting lots of different places. There is just so much to see and do. Thanks so much for letting us use your lovely cottage. The cottage is lovely and warm.....we didn't require to light either of the fires but guess it would be very cosy even in the winter months. A lot more spacious than it looks in the photos. Lovely walks from the door down to the woodland and river Spean.. Neptune's staircase, the parallel roads, Fort William and Ben Nevis are within easy reach. We took the train from the station a few steps walk from the cottage along to Mallaig over The Glenfinnan viaduct. There isn't any intrusive noise from the trainline despite it being so close. The cottage is so well equipped with all you need for a self catering break. (1) Leeds, United Kingdom23 contributions Cosy little cottage in a wonderful location After our trip to Madrid for my Dad's 65th Birthday was cancelled, we decided to do something closer to home and ended up booking Tigh Mo Mhiann in Roybridge. We were not disappointed... it was such an incredible few days. The weather was a blessing, having 20C towards the end of September. We visited the parallel roads which are awe inspiring, did the Creag Meagaidh circuit which takes in 3 munros, drove to Glenfinnan & Mallaig and found the witch's cauldron for a little swim. The cottage was perfect - had everything we needed for a few nights stay. The stairs are quite steep but were no problem for any of us. There's plenty of room in the communal areas for eating, drinking and relaxing. We particularly loved the map on the wall in the kitchen! This provided a lot of entertainment and research on an evening alongside a glass of wine.. The area is just incredible. Anyone and everyone needs to visit, and this little cottage is the perfect place from which to explore. Thanks to Bern & Amanda for a lovely and easy stay. If you like sleek, shiny and modern this is not your place, also not for you if you struggle with steep stairs. If you enjoy cosy, with real fires available, a substantial lawned garden, plenty of parking space comfortable bedrooms and a well-equipped kitchen it could well be. There are two hotels in the small village, both serving food, one currently open all day. The train station, just platforms really, is at the end of the garden and can take you to other hiking areas or Fort William. Only a few trains per day, mostly small and they didn't bother us at all. We found deep sections of the river Roy within a ten minute walk. Nice for swimming (with appropriate care) and the Spean river had pretty riverside walks with stoney 'beaches' in a few spots to explore. A varied and fun break. The coal stove in the living area has been superb as we spent a lot of time there and in the Kitchen which had all the usual equipment/utensils. The great find we had during our evening stroll in this area as road to Glen Roy which was just 3-4 miles from the main road and seems to have parallel lines on the mountain showing a Ice Age signs. The pass through the mountains and river and the views were absolutely beautiful. If we are in that area again we definitely can go there once again. Five days went in a jiffy and before we realized and we were packing our bags again to come back to home with wonderful memories. One thing to note is that this place does not have mobile signals, but the host provides a wifi and a landline phone that he mentioned we can use to make calls, so we didnot miss the mobile signal when in the cottage at all. Culemborg, The Netherlands470 contributions Klein maar fijn.
